Constitution Day in India, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated on November 26th every year.
Why is 26 November celebrated as Constitution Day?
26 November is observed to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

“I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.”

Constitution Day Quotes
“If you believe in living a respectable life, you believe in self-help which is the best help”.
“Freedom of mind is the real freedom. A person whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man. One whose mind is not free, though he may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man. One whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead. Freedom of mind is the proof of one’s existence.”
“Be Educated, Be Organised, and Be Agitated”
“Constitution is not a mere lawyers’ document, it is a vehicle of Life, and its spirit is always the spirit of Age.”
“Democracy is not merely a form of government. It is primarily a mode of associated living, of conjoint communicated experience. It is essentially an attitude of respect and reverence towards fellow men.”
These quotes reflect Ambedkar’s deep commitment to social justice, equality, and individual rights, principles that are foundational to the Constitution of India.
A government functions better and right when they have a constitution to follow. Happy Constitution Day!
